SOFTBALL 2012 SEASON REVIEW
On July 25th, the Paley Ale Brewers (a combined team of Lerch, Early & Brewer and Paley Rothman) won the championship in the Montgomery County Bar Association Softball League. It was the first time in league history that the Paley Ale Brewers captured the title.
In the championship game, Paley Ale beat perennial league power Res Ipsa to bring home the trophy. Chip Lipscomb and Andre Forte led Res Ipsa’s valiant effort to reclaim the title they had held for many years before Stein Sperling knocked them off last season. Res Ipsa came up short, however, as Paley Ale’s relentless offensive attack would not be stopped. In the end, Paley Ale finished the season with 15 wins and only 2 losses. Rookie of the Year John Tsikerdanos and the resurgent play of Jim Hammerschmidt led Paley Ale to victory all year long. Alison Rind managed Paley Ale’s talented roster; which, in addition to John and Jim, included attorneys Michael Neary, Bill Davis, Stuart Schwager, Laura Gagliuso, Caitlin Grant, Chris Roberts, Richard Ruprecht, Nicole Soraruf, and Bob Maclay.
The season was another success thanks to the efforts of Matt Tidball, who selflessly stuck to his commitment to serve as league Commissioner despite moving out of the area prior to the season starting; as well as team captains Alison Rind and Michael Neary (Paley Ale Brewers), Andrew Schwartz (Stein Sperling), Chip Lipscomb (Res Ipsa), Steven Long (McCarthy Wilson), Jonathan Diffley (Shulman Rogers), Katie Crowley and James Turner (Law Clerks). Matt passes the Commissioner torch to Katie Crowley for next season. If you’re interested in playing next year, feel free to contact Katie (email@example.com) for information.
